Aloha!
Long time no blogging, huh? Looks like my virtual vacation turned into a vacation from the virtual – my wireless connection is being impossible since the other day (hence the lack of posts), so I haven’t been able to login to SL until last night. This is the best I could do under the circumstances.

*Product details after the cut*

Even though it was difficult to shoot, I really love this outfit. The feminine silhouette created by skirts like this one kind of make me think of “the new look” with which Christian Dior revolutionized fashion in 1947, and that seems to be fairly big this spring as well – in more traditional versions and those with a twist of some sort. In times where curves aren’t commonly on models it’s nice to see a strong hourglass figure every now and then, right? My look isn’t exactly classic; I wanted a well-balanced colourbomb with some funky accessories that wouldn’t take it over the top.
The hair doesn’t look exactly as pictured when you buy it, I modified it a bit by taking off the ponytail and making the front bigger. The sheer tank from Last Call’s “Kadesh” set is one of my “most worn” items lately, it’s tintable and a bikini top underneath looks summerish and – in my opinion – sexy without drifting towards vulgarity (“the ugliest word”, according to Coco Chanel). The tones on these Tesla heels go perfectly with the lower part of the skirt, almost to the point where they seem to belong and the tiny dots on the back of the shoes are somewhat reminiscent to the sparkly texture on the Yelena bikini top. I don’t wear earrings very often, but when I do I like for them to be understated or oversized or quite strange. The bamboomerangs shown here come in different sizes, gold and silver and are scripted with a bunch of textures, one of them happens to have the same colours as the skirt. Along with the bangles, tooth necklace and clutch I think it finishes off the look pretty nicely. Sometimes mixed influences can certainly blend well.

Sorry about the brief silence, but a bit later I’ll be making a post again – my last one here at MichaMi. Time has passed quickly here and you guys have made it so much more fun. Really. Thanks!

Loving fashion and despising trends wouldn’t make perfect sense to me. As trends can work sort of like a mirror of what’s going on in the world or reflect where we’ve been, as well as a pendulum swinging from one extreme to another, I always remain a bit fascinated whether or not I like the current it-items or choose to “succumb” and actually go with the latest. One of this spring/summer’s more unusual RL-trends is in a sense turning the runway into a stage and I must say… this time I’ll gladly play along. It’s dreamy, full of imagination and a tad theatrical. Eccentrics should be delighted.

*Another outfit and product details after the cut*

With inspirations like Marcel Marceau the mime, Pierrot the clown and the classic commedia dell’arte one wouldn’t be able to avoid sending harlequin patterns, diamond shaped accessories, frill collars, loosely fitted pantsuits and plenty of bows and buttons down the runway. Not quite a fashion circus, but more than enough to clown around in style. I have that soft spot for quirky things, so this is right up my alley and putting together a few looks was one of those temptations I simply had to yield to. Pardon the fashion folly, but I just cannot resist to do this kind of post. Fashion to me is mostly about self-expression and if this is not a trend that came about thanks to that exactly then I don’t know what is.

Pierrot, The Sad Clown:
The goal here was to create something wearable but I wanted to keep it almost exclusively white and add at least one voluminous element, in this case the sculpty skirt, since white and loose are two of the trademarks when it comes to this clown’s dress of choice. The long gloves and pantyhose are there since the sleeves and trousers are not, but also for a well dressed overall look. I added a clutch for some chic and chose a chignon as yesterday but this time in order to keep the face in focus. Roslin Petion is great with make-up, and when I’m looking for something specific I usually end up going to Fleur (formerly known as Tete a Pied), also because tintable and somewhat thicker brows are a huge plus in my book. Last but not least – the Pierrot hat from Chapeau Tres Mignon is one of my favourites and this is the second look it has inspired me to put together.

Clutch: “HONEYHONEY E” by +*DEJAVU*+

Harlequin, The Servant:

For this look I was going for “inspirational” rather than “wearable”. In my opinion all of the pieces from this look are so easy to mix up with more casual stuff without losing the original feel. The vest, frill shirt and tights are all available in several different colours but I thought yellow worked best when wearing them at the same time (pink, blue, red and green are some of the other options). One of the first things I bought from Royal Blue was the first version of this frill shirt and it was another one of those “just right” items for me, the new version does look even better though and I’d say it’s one of those “just right” items when it comes to spring trends. This outfit wouldn’t be very “harlequin” without the Shop Seu tights. There’s something very eye-catching about them, in a muted way, don’t you think? I guess it’s all about finding a balance and what works for you, I personally find it in this – at least when on my unicycle.

This dress gets full points for originality and for being very current. I love the one-shoulder cut and I adore the ruffle piece on the one shoulder — fabulous! One minor complaint is that the sculptie skirt prim just didn’t look good on my avie; of course, that’s very possibly just due to my shape. I opted for minimal styling with just olive coloured pumps, a matching clutch and some very discrete bangles and earrings.

I avoided necklaces and wore this chic and short hairstyle to really emphasize the beautiful line of the shoulders and neck.

It comes in the form of this sporty-chic look that I adore — this is a look you should be seeing more of in RL fashions for the spring and summer as well. The pink jacket is what embodies the look I’m trying for with it’s clean lines and geometrical details, and to enhance the sportiness, I paired it with these white leggings and a high set ponytail. Now, as a true fashionista, I couldn’t leave off the stilettos (would I ever!) so I wore these delicate nude heels, which I think puts the “chic” into this look perfectly.

Today I’ve indulged in my beloved creamy golds and gone for this understated and elegant look.

We have a beautiful golden halter neck top with which I paired this super trendy corset belt. In order to dress down both these special pieces, I added a transparent white blouse to cover the arms and the back, and then opted for tan trousers (as opposed to a skirt) to make the look really versatile (it will take you from daytime to night-time without modification). I kept the rest of the accessories in theme with the colour scheme; stack heels in tan, white pearls and golden chains, and finally a chic little clutch.

Here is one of those super chic looks I like so much, that I put it together using some very special pieces that I immediately loved.

Starting with the fabulous sweater dress from Ce Cubic Effect — I had been reading about the shop for a while (from Sofia no less) but didn’t get myself over there until the other day; and that was not a minute too soon. The sculptie work on this dress is something I’ve never seen before; the skirt, the collar and the sleeves melt perfectly into the underlying clothes layers and just gives it this unique and truly 3D effect. The cut of the dress is also superb — I especially love the unsymmetrical hemline and the short sleeves; the latter very prominent in RL fashions this season. I dressed it with opaque tights, long gloves, a black t-shirt and a belt in the waist for a wintry city look.

Next on my love list are these sunglasses — perfection! Again, I had read about them for months on the blogs but didn’t actually get them until yesterday and now I don’t ever want to take them off! Perfect size, perfect shape, perfect reflections… *sigh*

Last, but definitely not least, this hair! It’s so Katie Holmes and so “right now”; and ETD has had it for ages! I happened across it by accident as I was systematically picking up all the hairstyles I didn’t already own at the sale — what a lovely surprise indeed.

Today I have two variations of the same theme for you: red coats with wide belts.

Look 1

This first one here is a younger, edgier and very current version, with a slightly military feel to it. The coat (from GLAM) has the top part on the Shirt layer, thereby allowing me to use this uber-sexy leather corset belt on the Jacket layer. I modified the coat Shirt layer by making it tight-fitting (it was a little loose) and by tinting the inner collar black (originally white).

The hair follows on the younger theme with a silky straight do and funky bangs.

Second look below the jump.

Look 2

This one then, is more elegant, feminine and grown-up with some lovely movement in both the coat skirt and the sleeves. I used a prim belt on this version and then also added the fur collar for some extra chic-ness.

Here I opted for a chic ponytail for a more polished feel.

It’s Saturday, everyone! The final push for weekend before a little holiday has finally paid off. That doesnt necessarily mean that it’s time to kick off your shoes and lay back, though! Tonight, ladies – we’re going out. Today’s (tonight’s) outfit is really for heading out to your favorite lounge with a few of your girlfriends (or even that special someone?) for some cocktails and maybe a little dancing:

What I’ve done here is started off with my absolute favorite mini dress to ever hit the grid by the legendary Ginny Talamasca. The bright and bold midnight blue color (which from certain angles looks purple to me?) made it really easy to decide what would be appropriate for accompaniment; black tights.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you should know that black tights have been all the rage and by adding the black tights and those really adorable ankle boots from Armidi, I was able to turn this silky summer mini into the perfect winter frock. I chose to accessorize with a long silver heart drop necklace from Cailyn’s with little flexi tassels that mimics the neckline in the dress quite nicely and I have also added a simple black clutch; despite the fact that purses in Second Life are hardly practical - and in reality with an outfit like this I probably would have opted for a wristlet.

To give this look a little edge, I’ve finished it off with long wavy hair with super cute fringe bangs and makeup with a very smoky white highlight under the eye.

Also, let me just add – because I haven’t seen this floating around the Fashion Planet feed: I am so glad that G.L.A.M. is back – apparently it’s been back for a while but I had no idea! The black tights in this outfit are from one of the many new outfits available on the G.L.A.M.sim, so I am including the SLURL to the new place for everyone to go check out.

*Product details, my thoughts on sleeves, and credits below the cut*

Skin: (CS) Vogue Skin – Summer Series – 4 – Bronzed
Hair: Armidi Hair – The Pasadena Girl V – Midnight I
Dress: *LAST CALL: Jana (midnight)
Tights: G.L.A.M. Black Lycra Tights
Shoes: [Armidi Gisaci] Oxford Leather Ankle Boot [Black]
Nails: =RaC= Manicure 11
Purse: ~Muse~ Elegant Clutch (Black/Silver) w/out animation
Jewelry: *Cailyn’s* Long Drop Silver Heart Necklace

The Jana dress from Last Call has probably been one of my favorite articles of clothing in Second Life since it’s release sometime last summer. One of the hottest trends that the buying offices for RL retailers and designers have been seeing have been sleeves. Everything on the runway last season had a unique sleeve, and I thought it was such a great trend to be picking up. Ginny Talamasca definitely had the right idea when she started using sculpties to push different types of sleeves with her clothes; and although it isn’t a trend that I’ve noticed many content creators in Second Life toying with – I think that it could really be fun for clothing in Second Life.

Some people may feel like I’m getting preachy a bit, but does anyone else feel like since the market is flooding with new (and very talented) content creators that it may be stagnating a bit? I mean let’s be serious, how many cowl neck sweaters can one girl handle this season? I think it’s time to start pushing sculpties elsewhere in clothes!

Just a thought…

Thanks for reading, again! <3 I guess that since it’s getting closer to the holiday, I should start planning some more holiday themed outfits? Maybe tomorrow? We’ll see…

Till then! *takes a deep breath* <3

- Sofia

So Stephanie Misfit, Chrisy Jewell, Una Ewing and Whimsy Winx tagged me….

Here are my 8 bits of useless info

1. I’m currently baby-sitting a little kitten for 10 days and I’ve fallen so in love with the little thing I don’t even mind the constant pooing (and who knew they fart all the time!).

2. I don’t have a drivers license, never did.

3. In 35 years of life, I’ve moved house 26 times.

4. I’m pretty much ambidextrous, I can do everything with both hands (and feet) except for writing (which I do with the right hand, not the feet).

5. I’m secretly a complete diva: when as a toddler I was taken to see my first celebrity (Swedish tennis star Bjorn Borg) and my mum asked “can you see him? do you see him?” I replied “yes, but can he see ME!”. I’ve learned to hide this side of me so that I can function in society, but I do expose my long-suffering nearest and dearest to it on a daily basis.

6. I LOVE wine and drink at least 1 glass per day (ok, 2 glasses per day).

7. My RL shopping and spending habits have improved significantly since starting shopping and spending in SL – much to my bank manager’s delight.

8. I once scored “psychopathic” on an personality test – that gave me respect from my friends.
