Turn It Up or Down

January 24th, 2008 | Category: Attitude, Chic, Fashion, Funky, Looks, Punk-Chic, Versatility

Today I’ve been playing with this beautiful skirt and with two slightly different ways of wearing it; Turn It Up and Turn It Down.

Turn It Up

Turn It Up or DownTurn It Up or Down

This is the loud version — you’ll make a statement wearing this! The skirt is fabulously chic with its tartan texture, volume and unsymmetrical hemline. I immediately thought of a Vivianne Westwood-esque outfit so I went for something of a punk-chic effect with the equestrian themed little jacket, the ruffle blouse and scarf, and then contrasted those with the funky hair and little hat and the somewhat kinky belt and boots.

Skipping School

January 02nd, 2008 | Category: Attitude, Fashion, Funky, Looks, Punk-Chic, Sexy, Uncategorized, Urban

When it comes to counting … or anything mathematical for that matter, I am one person you do not want to ask.  My reason for saying this is that Friday will be my last day blogging on MichaMi - Milla has promised to return on Saturday and I have promised to leave the blog in one piece on Friday.  So… if my calculations are correct, that leaves me with 3 blog posts to prepare and post between now and then.  But, since I really can’t seem to add correctly - I have actually photographed 5 outfits, instead of 3 - so today and tomorrow I will be posting once in the morning and once in the evening for a double dose of Sofia - I hope no-one minds.

Anyone who owns a television probably has heard of this new series on the CW called Gossip Girls?  While I don’t really watch TV all that often, I can see the impact of the show resonating with it’s fans in the same way that Sex and the City did.  This evening’s outfit is inspired by all the Gossip Girls floating around the grid, just another day in the upper east side’s swanky private Catholic Schools - except this look comes with a twist:

In an attempt to follow the hottest trend in Second Life - changing face; I’ve actually started out this look with a brand spanking new skin from Launa Fauna.  To me, this skin oozes with edge and sex appeal and it is one of the things that inspired me to put this outfit together in the first place.  The first piece of clothing that started out this look today was the plaid skirt - I felt that the length was conservative enough to make it seem as though it actually belonged to a real Catholic School Uniform, making it the appropriate choice.  From there I chose to use a super low cut cami and paired it with a sexy lacy bra peeking out at the top which I haven’t actually decided whether or not to call it sexy or trashy - I’ll let you be the judges, either way suits the look to me.  To give this look a touch of innocence I have accessorized with a pair of argyle socks from Puma Jie’s adorable Corduroy store and one of 2007’s trendiest items, rosary beads.  Finished off with one of the must-have items of 2007, the Crisis Pumps (scripted to change to over 40 colors = AMAZING) and haphazardly styled hair with some crazy coloring, this look is the perfect balance of sexy, trashy, and innocent…. And for those who don’t know - sometimes trashy can be a good thing.

Funky Fresh

December 27th, 2007 | Category: Attitude, Daytime, Fashion, Funky, Looks, Punk-Chic, Urban

Does anyone remember their first encounters with the world of “fashion” in Second Life?  I sure as hell do.  An image on the Second Life website under the “Fashion” tab (which was actually there until recently when they removed those helpful little tabs).  It was a scrolling picture of a gorgeous knock-kneed model sporting a pair of funky knee-high square-toed boots wearing a fringed mini-skirt and a corseted top.  My first thought was “I want to look like her!” - and I made that my mission.

Long story short - it wasn’t before long that I learned that the maker of those boots that I admired so was Fallingwater Cellador of Shiny Things; the boots at that time weren’t for sale - so my dreams of construction that outfit for myself were put on the back-burner.  But it wasn’t until I truly discovered the possibilities of fashion in Second Life that I decided that style was simply not for me anyway.  However, keeping the excitement of those newbie moments in mind; today’s outfit is inspired by that very outfit somewhat altered to suit my own style:

My first inclination at possibly putting this outfit together came when Fallingwater recently released a sculptie remake of her famous boots.  I seem to have developed a fetish for riding boots (along with a majority of the female population), and these boots - although not technically riding boots - quenched my desires for a pair in Second Life.  The second thing that perhaps was what set the ball rolling in reality was Kyoot Army’s new Naga Skirt; which fills the void of the old fringe PixelDolls skirt from the original image quite nicely;  the snakeskin texture and shredded prims are the perfect balance of funky and sexy, without being too short or too revealing.  Instead of a corseted top, I opted for a long sleeved plain jersey top in a grayish brown and coupled it with a short length scarf in with a plaid pattern in muted tones.  Finally, I accessorized with an overzied satchel ala Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and styled my hair in a disheveled, highly textured side-pony to create a look that is both funky …. and fresh.

Shifting It

I haven’t done a Versatility post for ages (i.e. where I put together different looks from the same base piece). Today I’ve used the Shift dress as the base (from Last Call’s Ginny outfit), because a shift dress is an excellent basic that any style conscious Av should have in her inventory. It’s the perfect blank canvas for any look — here I offer up 4 variations for your perusal.

#1. I started with the DIVA
Shifting It - DivaShifting It - Diva

It’s a look for some serious partying in the trendiest of nightclubs, she is dripping in diamonds but she still has an edge. The black boa does almost all the work here, I only added sheer tights, black studded pumps and a clutch. I then went with a platinum spiky updo and smoky eyes for that edge.

Punk Couture

September 07th, 2007 | Category: Chic, Fashion, Looks, Punk-Chic, Sexy

It’s Friday night and and this girl in the mood…

look1_07sep2007_001_213.jpglook1_07sep2007_010_162.jpg

I slipped on my favorite skinny leather pants, a super sexy sequined tank and this über fabulous (and well-blogged) collar. I continued with some serious accessories; the belt, the suspenders, the gloves and the bracelets. I finished off with a pair of kinky ankle boots.

To soften the edge just a little (and to stay on the feminine and girlie side) I wore this soft hairdo framing the face beautifully. Eyes are smokey and lips are nude.

Double Agent

June 01st, 2007 | Category: Casual, Chic, Fashion, Looks, Punk-Chic, Versatility

A shirt dress should be a staple in any well-dressed av’s inventory.  It’s incredibly easy to wear and it’s useful for many looks and occasions.  I’m wearing the Agent13 dress by Truth in these pics.

Casual Everyday
image-1_01jun2007.jpg

For an easy casual look I’ve simply paired it with some trendy black boots and silver or platinum jewelry.  I went with big delicious hair as I find it very difficult not to add a hint of glam to my looks :) .

Dark Side

image-2_01jun2007.jpg

For something a little different I decided to take the dress into darker territory. Fishnets, kinky boots, leather belts and heavier jewelry did that for me.  Not to mention the gorgeous make-up!  To balance it all out a little, I went with perky piggies on top.

Rich make-up for the everyday look and dramatic and over the top eyes for the dark look.  Product details below the cut.

Pink Skulls and Minis

May 19th, 2007 | Category: Fashion, Girlie, Looks, Punk-Chic

Today I felt completely girlie so the colour pink and miniskirts immediately came to mind. Rummaging through my inventory I found two outfits that would fit the bill. Plus, much to my delight, I realised both feature pink skulls! So today’s girlie-girlie looks are:

Girlie Punk

This cool outfit, consisting of the pink skull covered tube top, miniskirt and skull-belt, is from X3D. I added the white fishnets and my beloved Lola platforms. I went for light and glittery make-up and funky pigtails.

Next up is the classic School Girl
image-2_19may2007.jpg

In my humble opinion, this is the best school girl outfit out there. It consists of the skull covered top and pink miniskirt and I got from Canimal. I just added the white sneakers. Hair and make-up same as above.
