I’m basically wearing all white — from the tank, to the pants, to the shoes — in order to create a blank canvas for the jacket to shine upon. I feel the end result is easy-chic, springy and casual — perfect for my everyday chores.

This was a look I put together for a cosy concert with the talented Natalie Moody in a pub-like cellar location the other night. I wanted comfort, style and some sexy, and this semi sheer sweater was the perfect place to start from. Although sheer, you could wear it on its own without revealing too much, but I still preferred to add this gold bikini top underneath for a little bit of glam (the bikini top is a “vintage” Last Call item so its no longer available, however, any golden or black delicate bra or bikini top will do too). Next I put on these funky black pants with the large print texture to make things a little more interesting — I felt plain black pants would have been fine, but maybe a little boring. I opted for stiletto sandals in black, which I then matched with the thick hair band, the clutch and the bangles.

Large hoops and a delicate golden necklace finish off my look.

It was the square-shouldered jacket in pale yellow that started me today — I LOVE the cut of it; so strict, so military and oh-so-right. I paired it with these green skinny jeans that have become favourites of mine because of the fine detail in the texturing, and the funky foot-wrapping heels. I also added a long-sleeved, white sweater underneath to balance the colours and cover up some skin. At this point I wanted some brightness and these beautiful yellow pumps was exactly what I was after. I read about these pumps from Juicy on gogolita.com and I’m really excited about the gorgeous colours they do; simply perfect for the spring!

I picked up on the yellow pumps with these fantastic hoops — my absolute new favourites — I adore their over-the-top size and style; you’ll be seeing a lot of them on this blog.

Both the tank and the slacks have luxurious and expensive looking textures so I felt they could really carry off a lot of accessories. All the jewellery is delicate and golden, so that it’s noticeable but not in your face. The white bag, watch and belt provide a frame-work and add some chic-ness. In order to mix in a little bit of colour with the whites and golds, I scattered plummy purples throughout; like in one of the necklaces, the amethyst bangle, the nails and the shoes.

Although the jeans and T-shirt combo is as basic as it gets, it doesn’t have to look drab or sloppy. The unsymmetrical cut of this tee, together with the light brown, knee high boots add fashionable detail. The single bangle and the long delicate gold necklace are casual enough but still provide some extra texture.

I’ve topped everything off with cascades of sexy locks — guaranteed to spice things up!

I still have a lot of tweaking of the settings to do — for example, I think all my prim parts look too obvious, see hair and pant cuffs — but I figured I have to start somewhere. I’ve looked briefly at the excellent posts by Iris Ophelia for New World Notes and Caliah Lyon on Soigné and I still need to incorporate their advice, but I was wondering if the info is still valid for these newer versions? I would also love to hear from you if you have figured out good settings for photography.

By the way, if like me, you can’t stand the new Snapshot window (in the WindLight/Release Candidate), please go and vote for the Jira issue (you have to log in with your SL credentials and then Vote on the left hand side of the page) so that things can go back to the way they are. I have to wonder why on earth they decided to change it in the first place?

Ok, enough “tech talk”; over to the clothes. I have a sexy chic look for today, that started with this gorgeous swimsuit from Casa del Shai — just love the ruffles at the front and the sexy back! I simply paired it with a pair of sleek slacks, olive coloured pumps to pick up on the bottom part of the swimsuit and then just some soft coloured bangles.

I’m not a blogger. Nevertheless… I am blogging, for a week, as a fill-in. I did start to wonder whether or not to continue after my Purple Rust post and a couple of comments about my AV’s, ehm… unhealthily petite stature? Not because I can’t take critique – I  love the fact that Milla’s readers are opinionated but I don’t want negativity floating around on her blog because of me. Nor do I want to make anyone uncomfortable or appear to be endorsing unhealthy ideals. So, my initial reaction was to pack my looks together and leave blogging at that. On the other hand I’m not the one who’s on vacation here, I’m here to get something done for Milla and give you a piece of me in the process. I can only hope you’ll like it for the most part. Either way, this thin slice is here to stay, for now. Thank you so much for all the feedback and enthusiasm, as well as reading my posts, it really means a lot and I can definitely see why Milla keeps doing what she does. 

Now, with that said… moving on to yummy clothes! This time I’m going for something with a sweet, nostalgic feel. I don’t have too much to say about it, but I do love every single thing in it.  When Alla Ruff made these shorts and wide-legged trousers for Veschi I was in highwaist heaven and this Honey Kitty spoon and necklace with a colourchange bow are perfect examples of accessories that I like – things made out of everyday things, things that you wouldn’t instantly think of wearing.  It’s good to get a little cookie-kooky now and then, even in a fashion sense.

As Milla explained you’ll be seeing a bit of me here while she is on her break. Writing may not be my forte, but when it comes to fashion and personal style I always have some thoughts and ideas to share. It’s something I’m constantly exploring and have plenty of love for. I’m very excited as well as flattered that she asked me to take over the blog during her absence; I’ve got pretty big size zero shoes to fill, non? The posts here will be my first SL-related blog posts and I’ll most likely keep them short and sweet, but I also think the looks will speak for themselves to a certain extent and hopefully you will all like the result as much as I enjoy putting it together. Now… a little peek into my messy inventory, some of the things I like and then some reasons why. Expect eclectic, and thank you for reading. (:

When I was trying to decide what outfit would be fit for a blogging debut I wasn’t sure in which direction I should be heading. My style is pretty eclectic and like for most people what I go for tends to depend on my mood, current inspirations as well as the occasion. Although, there are a few things that aren’t part of an experiment, things that instantly feel “just right”. For the time I’m here you will be seeing a few of my “just right” things mixed up with something I’m testing to keep it experimental. As a strong advocate of personal style and taking risks when it comes to what you wear I’m probably treading on that fine line between mix-matched and mismatched every now and then, so I’m going to start off with something clean but unusual this time.
   When I get dressed I usually keep “contrast” in mind while at the same time trying to follow a red thread. This look is obviously monotonously metallic colourwise, but the dress fabric looks thin and light while the vest and boots have this soft and slouchy thing going on adding some volume to an otherwise straight silhouette. It makes me feel comfortable yet edgy in a minimalistic way, almost a bit futuristic toying with the thought of luxurious materials merging with metals. My mind is prone to drifting, what can I say?  Razorblade earrings and a heavy, straight cut bangs adds a bit of the edge, the clutch and oversized ring a touch of glam. In case you aren’t going to any crowded elevator parties somewhere in the future – don’t fret! Tomorrow I bring you colour.

I love this dress. It’s named after me, “Milla” by Punch Drunk and my little pixelated head is growing dangerously big because of it. Hence the ego trip. It’s always fascinating to see how other people see you, and I have to say I’m very pleased with Iris Seal’s interpretation. The dress is red, its unsymmetrical, one shoulder is bare, there are lots of beautiful flexi prims moving seductively, and most importantly, it’s unusual — all things that I love in a dress!
