Its Been Six Months!

November 01st, 2007 | Category: Blog Info, Editorial

Today, November 1st, I have been blogging for six months! I can’t believe how fast it has gone and how much fun I’ve had. I wanted to extend my most heart felt gratitude to all you great readers!

Six Months

Granted, six months really isn’t that long, but I still feel it to be a little milestone, so:

Thank you for reading! Thank your for coming back! Thank you for commenting! Thank you for in-world IMs and e-mails with encouragement and tips! and Thank you for making this so much fun!

Love,
-Milla

PS. I also updated my About page as the old text was really outdated. I also added a few lines of review copy policy.

YSL in SL

September 16th, 2007 | Category: Editorial, Fashion, News

I received an interesting information pack today from AndreaMedia announcing that Yves Saint Laurent will soon be releasing a new fragrance “Elle”. The description of the fragrance reads:

Yves Saint Laurent’s newest fragrance, Elle, is a ‘new era’ for YSL. Elle is a very feminine scent with a touch of the masculine. The fragrance is said to be woody, spicy and floral. It was created by perfumers Jacques Cavallier and Oliver Cresp of Firmenish, one of the top companies in the fragrance and flavour business.

YSL Elle

From what I have gathered, YSL will be opening a sim in occasion of the fragrance release. It all happens on the 1st of October 2007. The sim, which I think will be called “YSL Elle”, will be dedicated to art and exhibitions, and AndreaMedia are seeking artists, photographers or sculptors to submit pieces on the subject “The New Modern Woman”. Accepted pieces will be included in “future resident exhibitions”.

Submissions should be sent to laurent.heckmann@gmail.com

Fashion Directory

September 07th, 2007 | Category: Editorial, Fashion

Encore, over on the Aspire blog, has worked some magic with my In-World Locations page - Click Here to read her post.

She has re-coded the links so that they will take you directly to the in-worl map, as opposed to the SLurl map, thus eliminating a step in the process. Go have a read!

Here is a link to the actual Fashion Directory.

Mercury Preview

July 28th, 2007 | Category: Editorial, Fashion, Review

I’m sure most of you have read the hype about Mercury lately. I have to admit, I was a little suspicious or skeptical about all that marketing, thinking that it would be difficult to live up to the expectations. However, I’m happy to say that I was wrong! I was invited to the pre-opening of the shop today and I really liked what I saw. The Whitfield sisters (the designers behind Mercury) were funny and witty, and their styles eclectic and exciting. Most of all I love how different and original their designs are - something I will always welcome with open arms. I would most definitely recommend you go and have a look.

This outfit here is the Neo-Amelia and it was a gift to all those attending the preview. I decided to have some fun with it and added torn fishnets and platform shoes for a little punk (the outfit also comes with some funky yellow fishnets that I’m not wearing here).

Mercury Preview

This unusual hairstyle is from ETD and will be released soon. I received this early copy as I was a beta-tester, and I had struggled to think of a way to wear it - until now!

My Top 10 and The Newcomers

July 02nd, 2007 | Category: Blog Info, Editorial, Fashion

I’ve been fiddling with my Sidebar again.

First I’ve tweaked my My Top 10 Designers and thought I would give some detail into my rankings.  However, first off I wanted to make the following statement for the record and for the sake of transparency:

This blog (and this blogger) is in no shape or form supported or sponsored by any of these designers (or by anybody else for that matter). Also, none of the designers are on my Friends list and I don’t have any kind of personal relationship with any of them. My preference is purely and solely based on my personal admiration of the quality of their creations.

Phew! Ok, now we got that out of the way lets continue with the lists.

1. Last Call - Ginny Talamasca: remains the untouched queen of clothes design.  She is unrivaled in originality, execution and productivity.  This is where most of my Lindens are spent.

2. ETD: My hair maker of choice. The styles and the textures have got me hooked — and the frequent new releases make sure I keep coming back for more.

3. Celestial Studios: The best skins and make-ups for my shape.  The enormous choice of faces is also a huge factor in my preference for CS.

4. Shiny Things: Shoe dealer of choice. I’m obsessed with the curve of the prim between heel and toe - and there is nobody who does that better than Fallingwater Cellardoor of Shiny Things.

5. Canimal: Funky clothes and brilliant textures.

6. X3D Apparel: Original and well-executed clothes and shoes, with a flavor of haute couture.

7. G.L.A.M. Fashions: Wonderful casual outfits that are great for the basics in your wardrobe.

8. Earthstones: Original and beautiful jewelry.

9. PixelDolls: Original designs and high-quality work.

10. Nyte’N'Day: Good quality clothes from jeans to club to underwear.

Then I added a new list of NewComers. These are smaller brands that I really like. Some of them have only a few items and others are already on their way to establishing themselves permanently. These are NOT in any kind of order of preference.

Truth Designs

Needless to say, I am always on the look out for new talents (what fashionista is not?), I love it when somebody comes along with a new and original style to add even more variation to our Second Lifes. I’m looking forward to adding more names to the NewComers list in the future.

Comme des Garçons

June 28th, 2007 | Category: Chic, Editorial, Fashion, Looks, On the Job

I felt for someting different with this look, and I like men’s clothes made sexy and feminine on a woman.

image-1_28jun2007.jpg image-2_28jun2007.jpg

This strict suit does not reveal a millimeter of skin, so you are going to have to pull your sexiness from sassy walking and talking. If you pull it off you’ll be able to order anyone around!

image-3_28jun2007.jpg

To balance and accent the masculine clothes I went with some serious diamond incrusted platinum jewelry, killer stilettoes and gorgeous glossy hair. The make-up is also very “woman” with lush red lips and smokey eyes.

Busy, Busy Girl

June 16th, 2007 | Category: Casual, Daytime, Editorial, Fashion, Girlie, Looks, On the Job

Trev and I have been very busy lately; we’ve just moved our home to a new and bigger beach, we’re setting up our first store, I’m learning sculpties and Blender, Trev is churning out some really good furniture…. the list goes on…:) But hey, I’m not complaining - loving every minute! Of course, my looks of late are comfortable and beachy. I found myself liking the baby doll top-and-shorts/capris combination a lot; and here are two of my favorites.

G.L.A.M.

Nice bermuda length shorts in green with lots of lovely details. Accenting colour is pink, which the girly-girl in all of us just adore! Paired with simple sling-backs (almost flip-flops) gives it the right casual look.

This is one is a bit more…. je ne sais quoi… that special little something that Ginny Talamasca always manages to infuse into her outfits — and that I’m utterly addicted too! Accents are red in this one so my shoes follow suit with strappy red sandals. I opted for cute pigges in order to keep the look daytime and girly.

Make-up is rosy and red, respectively, with shimmery, summery eyes.

This Is Trev, Trevor Tidewater

June 11th, 2007 | Category: Editorial

My partner, my friend, my lover and my man.

I wanted to introduce him to you now, as we are about to launch into our next adventure into furniture and prefabs. If I didn’t, he would be left somewhere in the shadows, and that would be very unfair and misleading indeed. Through this blog, it would appear I am the only person behind “MichaMi”, but in fact there’s the two of us. Trev and I met in my first week in SL (and his first month) and we’ve explored and evolved in our Second Lifes together every step of the way since. He is the strong and silent type, so you will not see him featured in fashion spreads on this blog (believe me, I’ve tried to convince him). But he is the rock of this relationship and of this partnership, and he deserves the mention and recognition.
Milla is all for you baby, and it’s all for us! xxxxxxxxx

Sculpted Prims

May 25th, 2007 | Category: Editorial

These are exciting times indeed! Within two days of the introduction of sculpties we already have some very interesting pieces by our incredibly talented SL fashion designers - check out Fashion World of SL in my Links. I wear my first sculpties in my next post (see above). I for one, cannot wait to see all the new beautiful clothes and builds made possible by sculpties. Admittedly, I myself will have a learning curve to overcome and I hope to do it very soon! My head is full of new ideas and I can’t wait to start realising them!
