Weaving Dreams out of Fashion
Loving fashion and despising trends wouldn’t make perfect sense to me. As trends can work sort of like a mirror of what’s going on in the world or reflect where we’ve been, as well as a pendulum swinging from one extreme to another, I always remain a bit fascinated whether or not I like the current it-items or choose to “succumb” and actually go with the latest. One of this spring/summer’s more unusual RL-trends is in a sense turning the runway into a stage and I must say… this time I’ll gladly play along. It’s dreamy, full of imagination and a tad theatrical. Eccentrics should be delighted.
*Another outfit and product details after the cut*
With inspirations like Marcel Marceau the mime, Pierrot the clown and the classic commedia dell’arte one wouldn’t be able to avoid sending harlequin patterns, diamond shaped accessories, frill collars, loosely fitted pantsuits and plenty of bows and buttons down the runway. Not quite a fashion circus, but more than enough to clown around in style. I have that soft spot for quirky things, so this is right up my alley and putting together a few looks was one of those temptations I simply had to yield to. Pardon the fashion folly, but I just cannot resist to do this kind of post. Fashion to me is mostly about self-expression and if this is not a trend that came about thanks to that exactly then I don’t know what is.
Pierrot, The Sad Clown:
The goal here was to create something wearable but I wanted to keep it almost exclusively white and add at least one voluminous element, in this case the sculpty skirt, since white and loose are two of the trademarks when it comes to this clown’s dress of choice. The long gloves and pantyhose are there since the sleeves and trousers are not, but also for a well dressed overall look. I added a clutch for some chic and chose a chignon as yesterday but this time in order to keep the face in focus. Roslin Petion is great with make-up, and when I’m looking for something specific I usually end up going to Fleur (formerly known as Tete a Pied), also because tintable and somewhat thicker brows are a huge plus in my book. Last but not least – the Pierrot hat from Chapeau Tres Mignon is one of my favourites and this is the second look it has inspired me to put together.

Harlequin, The Servant:
For this look I was going for “inspirational” rather than “wearable”. In my opinion all of the pieces from this look are so easy to mix up with more casual stuff without losing the original feel. The vest, frill shirt and tights are all available in several different colours but I thought yellow worked best when wearing them at the same time (pink, blue, red and green are some of the other options). One of the first things I bought from Royal Blue was the first version of this frill shirt and it was another one of those “just right” items for me, the new version does look even better though and I’d say it’s one of those “just right” items when it comes to spring trends. This outfit wouldn’t be very “harlequin” without the Shop Seu tights. There’s something very eye-catching about them, in a muted way, don’t you think? I guess it’s all about finding a balance and what works for you, I personally find it in this – at least when on my unicycle.

I get the “Weaving Dreams Out Of Fashion” V? TAKE THAT SOFIA AND MARNI, YEAH THAT’S RIGHT I’VE BEEN WATCHING. Like a hawk.
This is my favorite so far, specifically the first one. Don’t get me wrong I like the whole “servant” thing (JKILY), but the white one reminds me of that time out by Dexter when you got OWNED. It’s pretty though. So are you.

I’ve always wondered how some people make fleur skins look so beautiful on their shape, you do just that Mariya. I wear fleur demos and I end up looking like a tub of paste *tear*

TR: I did not get OWNED. Nej, ei, non, no, net, hindi, etc. etc. etc. <3 and thank you
Triangle: Glad you like it! Personally, I absolutely LOVE dreamy looks.
Sofia: And of course, I know you’ve had a penchant for yellow lately. Howeveeer… if you start running over innocent civilians with your unicycle I will take NO responsibility for it. <3 you too.
Marni: It’s well-deserved. Your work is like made for this kind of post.
Carolin: Thanks
I wasn’t sure about how this post would be recieved, I’m glad you don’t think it’s all too much.
Portia: Awww, I doubt that! I think the Fleur skins seem to work for many different shapes, I always mod the face a liiiittle bit when changing skins though, the mouth corners, nose and brows tends to vary so much. I guess maybe… the secret is to be persistent and experimental? Haha, I have no idea really, but I enjoy making shapes and playing with sliders.
Ana: Obrigada! And olá
Thanks for reading, all!

I love the second look, especially for the splash of colours. It’s playful but not overboard. The second Fleur skin is really fabulous on you!

Hi Mariya – Now I am bowing to you. I love my two outfits from G.L.A.M with the great bow and WOW I would have never thought to pair it with something else. Outstanding. This look is a total winner. Simply lovely. : )

I love the theatrical tendency of these outfits… and if you check an old Milla’s post, you can see I’m madly in love with the Harlequin tights.
Now I must add the skins, they’re gorgeous!

Luthien, Stella, Lili, Cinthia, Val, Kallisto, Luitha: Thanks a lot, guys! I’m really happy about you liking this too, it’s definitely something along the lines of what I wanted to when I said yes to Milla about the blogging. A somewhat “crazier” post, or whatever one would prefer to call it. I even had to hold myself back a little – fear of clowns isn’t ALL that unusual, after all.
Stella’s question: The pictures are actually not hi-res, but my graphic sliders are maxed out and I was pretty careful with getting the light just right. I think these skins are really great for beautyshots, too.
