Sweet Conundrums
To blog, or not to blog – dat iz ze question…
*More after the cut*
I’m not a blogger. Nevertheless… I am blogging, for a week, as a fill-in. I did start to wonder whether or not to continue after my Purple Rust post and a couple of comments about my AV’s, ehm… unhealthily petite stature? Not because I can’t take critique – I love the fact that Milla’s readers are opinionated but I don’t want negativity floating around on her blog because of me. Nor do I want to make anyone uncomfortable or appear to be endorsing unhealthy ideals. So, my initial reaction was to pack my looks together and leave blogging at that. On the other hand I’m not the one who’s on vacation here, I’m here to get something done for Milla and give you a piece of me in the process. I can only hope you’ll like it for the most part. Either way, this thin slice is here to stay, for now. Thank you so much for all the feedback and enthusiasm, as well as reading my posts, it really means a lot and I can definitely see why Milla keeps doing what she does.
Now, with that said… moving on to yummy clothes! This time I’m going for something with a sweet, nostalgic feel. I don’t have too much to say about it, but I do love every single thing in it. When Alla Ruff made these shorts and wide-legged trousers for Veschi I was in highwaist heaven and this Honey Kitty spoon and necklace with a colourchange bow are perfect examples of accessories that I like – things made out of everyday things, things that you wouldn’t instantly think of wearing. It’s good to get a little cookie-kooky now and then, even in a fashion sense.
That is all for today. <3

Very cute. I love those shorts but I hardly wear them because my SL partner hates them and says they look like bloomers. He has no sense of fashion, I swear.
About the “negativity”….blah. Any time someone decides to make commentary like that, a simple “thanks for your comments” is all that’s needed. Beyond that, who cares what your shape is like? A) it’s YOUR shape, and thus is a reflection of YOU, and B) I’m here to look at your clothes, not the size of your rear.
Besides, most fashion models are on the tall, thin side. Look at Agyness Deyn for example; she’s practically the hottest model in fashion at the moment, and the girl is 5′9″ and a size 4 – pretty petite imho.
Anyway, don’t let negative commentary get you down. You’re doing great.

Hm ó.ò I hope my halloweeney comment wasnt a reason to delete the post…
I really admire your sense of style and beauty! So I hope it wasnt for me…. if it was, I’m sorry!…
March 16th, 2008 at 21:01
M, you are one of the most beautiful and unique AV’s in SL with a great sense of style which is yours alone. Don’t let people who have nothing good to say bother you, keep doing your thing.
March 16th, 2008 at 21:20
I couldn’t agree more with Scarlett!
I admire and love av’s that you recognize without
seeing the nametag above it! You are one of those
and cause of that truly unique!! Keep rocking like you do Mariya, and don’t let anyone get to you!!
Big yay for the outfit!!

Meara D: I think I would actually be willing to try some pixel bloomers if I could find any. Haha. I definitely do love these shorts though, I’ve been waiting for a highwaist trouser with a wide leg for ages (I swear, Alla Ruff never disappoints me). And I do agree with you about shapes – I know mine is lean, but in the skin I had on in the post that was mentioned I can, in hindsight, see where those two comments from. I must admit I was surprised, though. Thanks for the pep talk and kind words
Cinthia: I assure you your comment had absolutely nothing to do with me making the post private, your comment made me laugh actually, which was just what I needed. So don’t worry at all!
Shelby and Scarlett: Thanks a lot, guys – I assure you I’m back on track now and have more in store. Another lesson learnt I guess? Oh well!

Adorable Mariya!Keep on suprising us chick!;)

Everyone here has a lot of love for you Mariya. I think most of all, as people who appreciate fashion, we do just that. We appreciate your look, both avie wise and your fashion sense. Those who come to criticize? Eh, they probably do about everything in life , don’t let them get you down. You are doing a wonderful job and that is a luscious outfit! It’s so original. This is what I love about SL fashion blogs..I see items from designers I may have missed and then I go and find so many treasures in their shops, this is the reason I started keeping an SL fashion blog. To have a handy list of everyone here
I really admire people’s hard work to take the time to document their SL wear.
It does not matter if someone’s shape is thin/large tall/short etc etc in my opinion because we are all different shapes and sizes in our RLs.

I think it’s time to talk about something else, now, that’s what I think. Like, HOW AWESOME you make everything look!!!!! Love that outfit, it’s very similar to how I mashup things myself, so yumyumyum young fresh ecclectic trendy!!! Cannot wait to see what you come up with tomorrow :3 xx

Mariya
it is exciting having you man the blog for Milla while she is away. Your sense of style is different than her’s and I love the fresh perspective you have. Both of you are causing a hole in my purse as i rush out to buy something you have shown me that will fill the fashion riff in my wardrobe. Heaven forbid!!
Rock on girl and keep it coming. Your sense of style is appreciated as much as Milla’s is…bahhhh to the haters
March 17th, 2008 at 03:11
ps…running to get that purse NOW!!

*winks at Jyla*
She’s right. But I can’t help for feeling sorry for that person who started this whole debacle. I am sure she wasn’t thinking about what she is saying. Everyone has their off days and say things they sometimes don’t think would have a major impact on other people.
I do love that outfit though. Very original.

Mariya, I can see you have been doing a GREAT job with the looks! I love each and every one! Then again, I knew you would….
As for all the drama, I agree with Meara´s comment about just saying a graceful “thank you for your comment” as in a public forum like this you can never ever please everyone. I also appreciate that you recognise and was able to see the point of view of the critic; that speaks of great class, my girl!
Please continue doing what you do so well!
March 17th, 2008 at 11:16
Thaliaa, Jyla, Dona, Portia: Thank you! I’m happy to add my touch to it too, and I’ll try to keep it eclectic. Before I started out I was thinking “what to blog?”, now I want to blog everything. There are so many talented content creators and TOO many ways to combine their work. Haha.
And one final thing about the comments, then I hope we can all move past it. I talked to the people who reacted about this in-game, they IMed me very politely, there are no hard feelings at all and I’m sure the comments were not meant to put me down but to point out an important issue. I can’t say I was expecting to have that finger pointing at me, but people will always have different opinions and that’s something I respect and appreciate. Besides, the skin I was in has a rather slimming effect with the heavy body shading and deep tan and my shape is already thin as it is. So I could see their point once it was brought to my attention even though I don’t personally agree about me looking anorexic, nor do I think an unhealthily thin figure is something anyone should strive for. That is something I want to make very clear.
Thank you guys so much for the input.
Milla: Tack så mycket
Really glad you like it as well! I’ll continue down the same path but have some crazy turns ahead.
Yeah, you are both right – a lot of good points have been made here, from both sides, but I wanted to avoid the drama that could possibly have followed especially considering that this isn’t even my blog. I really hope you are enjoying your vacation and keep enjoying what I’m posting, it was great to hear from you!
<3, peace, and all that jazz.

Um, I think enough people have said good things about your outfit and post that I can get a little off subject (they also said it better than I could have anyway). But before that, hi Sew, Marni, and shelby!!!111!
Mariya, du ar mums och JAD.

Awww hell, I’m late to the party but for what it’s worth, I have loved reading your posts. This look is my fave so far. Sure that will change as the days go by, your posts get better and better!
Good job Mariya
March 17th, 2008 at 20:27
I love how your photographs compliment the looks so completely. They really evoke the feel of the style you’ve put together.
And oh my god I LOVE that purse. Great, great, great!
(Oh, and I love the ice cream spoon! Very apropos!
)
March 17th, 2008 at 20:59
TR: Du är vuymums och JÄDMed.
And HEJ.
Saiko: Better late than never, right? From the looks so far I think this might be my favourite too, I’m not sure why exactly, it could be the vintage feel and mixed materials. Anyhow – the party’s just getting started!
kristianne: Thank you, I do try to do that so I’m very glad it seems to be working since you noticed
The purse is really lovely and unique for SL I’d say, it also comes in a handheld version. Haha… the spoons and cake necklace suddenly /did/ seem more appealing and appropriate than before. I think I’ll be wearing that more often.

surely you should make your own blog once Milla returns! Your outfits are AMAZING..stunned..beyond unique and beautiful. You have an excellent insight when it comes to fashion. I need a daily dose of you!!
March 18th, 2008 at 17:49
Hi Mariya – I think this is a very chic and fun look. I love all the accessories you put with it and the colors are soft, simple and pair very well together. Bravo!
March 19th, 2008 at 10:13
Alezandra: Thank you so much, what a sweet compliment! The positive feedback I’m getting almost has me convinced to continue blogging/starting my own, but I’ve never really pictured me doing just that, to be honest. I can say I am definitely reconsidering it.
Kallisto: Thanks! Soft is definitely what i was going for, with a nostalgic and personal feel.
March 22nd, 2008 at 00:46
I absolutely love this outfit as well as all of the outfits you have posted here. Your sense of style is awesome and unique. Do you have your own blog? If not, I hope you start one. I will definitely read it!
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:41
Elise: Thank you
I have registered a blog, months and months ago (I’m sure moths have gotten there at this point), but I’ve never blogged anything regarding SL until now and here. I’m better at the mix-n-matching than the writing part. Maybe I’ll have to start now though, it’s been a lot of fun and the nice feedback definitely makes it even more so. Thanks for the encouragement.
