Lacy & Lazy

I have been feeling very lazy today. That does not mean…

Frontview Backview

*More after the cut*

… it has to show. Changing clothes, applying make-up and doing your hair can’t get much easier than in Second Life, right? Disregarding lag and the occasional bugs, of course. I usually find myself going for jeans, pumps and a tanktop when I’m feeling lazy like today, but after yesterday’s post which was rather sweet with a lot going on I wanted to head in a simple and strict direction. One of the biggest challenges for me when it comes to fashion is to wear a lot of colour – I think I’m just naturally drawn to muted tones, black and about 164 shades of grey, an example being my first post here at MichaMi. So today the only colour we’ll be seeing will be the small amount of red on my lips. (:
The Kimberly dress from <3 Cupcakes is what I started out with, it comes with short, sculpted sleeves which you obviously can’t see since I’m wearing a cape. The lace detailing around the waist made things easier for me since its very similar to that on this free (who can resist a good freebie?) cape from Bijou and the combination seemed natural. As far as accessories go I wanted to keep it clean but anyone who knows me probably knows that I have a veeery soft spot for hats, this veiled one being one of the more discreet yet elegant ones in my inventory and well-worn with my favourite kind of hairstyle – a simple chignon. The only thing I’m sticking to, in my usual lazy-day spirit, are these slinky stilettos from Maitreya. You simply can’t go wrong with these, and let’s not forget another great thing about SL: the fact that sneakers and stilettos are equally comfortable.

I’m enjoying this blogging of yours beyond comparison, Mariya. And I find myself returning to this page for the 6th time today :)

STOP SPENDING MONEY AND DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE WITH YOUR LIFE, LIKE BUYING ME CLOTHES. <3<3<3

  6. Portia Rossini March 18th, 2008 01:53

I would love Mariya to buy me clothes too..

But we know it’s a cruel world where everyone buys themselves clothes or else everyone will be walking with just their expensive branded skin and nothing else ;)

*giggles at Sophia* That’s your second Christian a la Project Runway quote today and I’ve snorted out loud both times!

I love the silhouette of the cape with the profoundly understated sexiness of the skirt, stockings and heels. Traffic stoppah!

  8. Galilla Sinatra March 18th, 2008 03:52

    Hello,

Me again. Galilla. My last name is Sinatra by the way. And up until about 3 weeks ago (which I just saw yesterday), I was the ONLY Galilla on the grid. A fact I was very much aware of. So I was not attempting to hide my identity. Besides, it didn’t say last name was required, and since it was my first blog comment post, I just simply didn’t put it.

Mariya and I spoke in world. She was very gracious and even admitted to me, as she has to you, that her skin choice was not the best for the outfit. It did make her appear extremely thin due to the shading. I IM’d her to apologize for making her feel uncomfortable, especially since it’s not her blog.

But let me say this, and I hope this will not cause more controversy and more posts. That is not my intent. My intent here is just to explain why I made the comment.

What I attempted to do was start a serious conversation on the issue of weight in the fashion world. I work at a school, I see some of the young girls practically starving themselves to be thin to look like those models they want to emulate. And sadly, we have lost one to anorexia. It is no joke. It is a very serious issue, something I’m sure most of you will agree on. My crime, it seems,is having actually posted that comment on a fashion site. My mistake. It should have been made on a blog where people openly discuss serious issues.

And so, I’m sorry if I offended anyone. Especially Mariya. You are doing a fine job Mariya, the outfits you are creating are lovely and I’m glad you chose to continue. I enjoy visiting the blog everyday since I discovred it about a month ago. All the best. :)

    Galilla Sinatra

PS: Just so you know - I do have many friends, in RL and SL; I don’t have any issues concerning my weight (I am slender and healthy). And please, let this be the end for Mariya’s sake. I just felt I needed to explain.

Sofia: HEJJ GÖRL HEJJ! I appreciate it, and our occasional fashion telepathy doesn’t always leave much to be said, no?

Valena: I had a feeling you would like this one :)

    Dona: Thank you!

Bibs: Long time no see :D Thanks a lot, it’s really nice hearing from you and I’m glad that you’re reading and enjoying my posts! Hope to catch you in world sometime soon!

Moisie: Do you really need more clothes, as long as you have a seashell bra and octopus bottom? Maybe I should blog that. HM.

Portia: Haha, ome days I wouldn’t mind having a personal shopper either, some days I wouldn’t mind shopping for other people. It’s a fun part of the process though, and I’m sure /most/ women agree most of the time. :)

Kristianne: Thank you - the different silhouettes one can create with different pieces is one of the things that interest me most about clothes, I lovev playing with it even though this one ended up being a classic.

Galilla: Last name isn’t required, I think that was mostly mentioned since your comment was partly negative, but it’s really up to you to choose your signature. It is a very serious issue and recognizing that on a fashion site is hardly a crime - I’d say it’s relevant. I don’t think it was the fact that you did bring it up that caused something of a stir, but more your choice of words/the way it was put.

Thank you, I’m glad we did talk it though and that you commented again, I hope you’ll continue to do so and that without being afraid of expressing your opinion. I’m sure there were others who shared yours on this matter in particular too. So, let’s put that incident behind us.

They write books about this sort of thing. Even poems…

You are the darkness where new lights begin and increase.

(The reason I’m able to overlook the small hat is because of the small dress that accompanies XD)

Galilla, I really do feel for you when people started to attack you like that. I am sure what you said was not meant to have any ill meaning at all.

And Mariya, I hope you make a new entry soon!

TRemo: You’re lucky I wasn’t in the mood for the HMS Isabella hat!

Milla: Tack så mycket :D Verkligen glad att /du/ gillar det med.

Kallisto: Thank you - I think we all need a touch of classic elegance once in a while (:

Marni: Haha, you know it’s registered, so… maybe once in a while? We’ll see.

Portia: Done and done! I’m thinking about the next one now. I think it will probably be more springish or summery.
