Urban Chick

I’ve had these over-knee boots for a while and I’ve been wanting to wear them, but I never managed a look that didn’t look just trashy. So, today I experimented with an urban, rock-chic version and I think the boots come out looking good.

I wanted a tiny leather jacket with a large sweater underneath and, oh my was that difficult! This little biker jacket here was perfect and caused no problem; the trouble started with finding something longer that was NOT on the Jacket Layer — eventually (after a lot of testing, fiddling and hair pulling) I went with this sweater on the Shirt Layer and a piece from a Camie Cooper Tee on the Pants Layer (God bless Camie Cooper, the queen of providing ALL layers) to cover the midriff part. Granted, the midriff part is not in the same colour as the sweater, but I actually kind of like the contrast. Finally, the sweater I used, came with this prim bottom attachment that was perfect for that big loose feeling I wanted. I continued with black pants (on the Underpant layer) and then added a beret just because it felt right.

Oh dear, I hope all that was not too confusing! A disclaimer: the bottom prim part of the sweater was actually really hard to make fit perfectly (I never managed a perfect fit), so if you prefer, just skip it for less of a headache.

let’s see if I’m getting it right: the prim part was the original bottom of the sweater and your midriff was uncovered? then it would have made sense to place it higher up on editing and get rid of the second white layer, so it would have solved some of your fitting problems… but maybe I’m wrong, I like the length you’ve given to it – and, young lady, this definitely doesn’t look trashy ;)

Hehe, Elaine, you did indeed get it right (which means you got my long-winded explanation! yay!).
The problem with that was that when I pulled the prim bottom up to midriff level, the gap between the top-rim and my body became huge (you can still see it above my butt in the side-view shot), and that is probably due to my hip-waist ratio being too high – so try it and see what it looks like on you. My God, this was one complicated look! :)

Definitely my favorite look from you in some time – I love the way it all looks especially with the blonde hair. And Rachel was a great choice. <3

    Love it :D

I love many of the ensembles you put together but this really stood out to me. So stylish and individual.

Thank you guys! I’m so happy you like it — all that fiddling and messing was worth it then. :)

  8. Elaine Lisle Says:

it definitely was! now that I’ve seen the waist-hip technical problem, I realise you solved it the best way possible by letting the prim rest on your hips. I’d have the same difficulty… but you still made a gorgeous look!
    you rock, milla!
