Hip to be … Cubic?
I practically make it my mission in Second Life (and in real life) to always have my finger firmly pressed upon the pulse. I love staying with what’s hot and what’s new when Im shopping around. Today’s outfit mixes a bit of the new and old to create a trendy and chic look that I wouldnt mind strutting my stuff down the streets of Manhattan in any day:
The inspiration for this outfit came almost entirely from this new adorable knit jacket from Cubic effect that’s been floating around the Fashion Planet feed in quite a few posts. Since the advent of sculpties in Second Life, designers grid-wide have really been pushing the envelope to create new and original things for us to wear, and a quick glance through any given Japanese sim can really reveal quite a few hidden treasures. To create a whole look, I added a simple pair of blue jeans tucked into some of my favorite chocolate colored boots from Last Call: Covet with a plain white tank. I’ve accessorized with a knit cap from Tesla, a french feather print purse, and of course my new favorite chain necklace (a sculptie rose); an early christmas gift from my good friend Mariya Nesiote <3. And since Wednesday was officially the first day of Winter, I have given Fall a proper send-off by wearing all of my earthy tones and fall colors.

One of the things that really makes this outfit work well – and something that SOOO many designers and content creators in Second Life have highly underestimated *hint hint*, is the ability to layer. Layers, folks. Launa Fauna (now of Chai Skins fame) has created these wonderful jeans that she offers in not only a “pant” layer, but she also offers in an “underwear” layer, which really allows for some great mixing and matching *hinthintnicoledavidofarmidi* – even better are Camie Cooper’s tanks that allow for optimum mixing and matching as well. Not only are the pieces of her tank offered in “jacket” and “shirt” layers, but Camie has gone the extra mile and offers an “underwear” and “pant” layer with the bottom half of the tank. By doing this, the overlapping of the tanktop over the jeans is possible without wasting the jacket layer which allows for that wonderful jacket from Cubic effect to be worn as well.
Also, I know that hats in Second Life are really hell – unless the hat is built for a certain hair specifically like the ones that Elikapeka Tiramisu of ETD offers as well as a few other hair builders – but I really wanted to challenge myself to make this hat work, since it’s just so cute. I really implore anyone who has interest in the perfect head accessory to learn how to modify prims without “stretch”-ing them so that this would be possible, because looking at these pictures I’m actually pretty happy that I did. It allows for so much more flexibility when creating an overall look.
And now that I’ve yacked your ears off enough, I shall take my leave and wish you all a wonderful day.
Thanks for reading!

Beautiful job Sofia, and I loved what you said about layering too. I totally agree
I also wish designers would give us stuff on underwear layers in say shirt packs. I have so many tanks that don’t work for me in the winter cause who wants to freeze their belly button?
