Funky Fresh
Does anyone remember their first encounters with the world of “fashion” in Second Life? I sure as hell do. An image on the Second Life website under the “Fashion” tab (which was actually there until recently when they removed those helpful little tabs). It was a scrolling picture of a gorgeous knock-kneed model sporting a pair of funky knee-high square-toed boots wearing a fringed mini-skirt and a corseted top. My first thought was “I want to look like her!” – and I made that my mission.
Long story short – it wasn’t before long that I learned that the maker of those boots that I admired so was Fallingwater Cellador of Shiny Things; the boots at that time weren’t for sale – so my dreams of construction that outfit for myself were put on the back-burner. But it wasn’t until I truly discovered the possibilities of fashion in Second Life that I decided that style was simply not for me anyway. However, keeping the excitement of those newbie moments in mind; today’s outfit is inspired by that very outfit somewhat altered to suit my own style:
My first inclination at possibly putting this outfit together came when Fallingwater recently released a sculptie remake of her famous boots. I seem to have developed a fetish for riding boots (along with a majority of the female population), and these boots – although not technically riding boots – quenched my desires for a pair in Second Life. The second thing that perhaps was what set the ball rolling in reality was Kyoot Army’s new Naga Skirt; which fills the void of the old fringe PixelDolls skirt from the original image quite nicely; the snakeskin texture and shredded prims are the perfect balance of funky and sexy, without being too short or too revealing. Instead of a corseted top, I opted for a long sleeved plain jersey top in a grayish brown and coupled it with a short length scarf in with a plaid pattern in muted tones. Finally, I accessorized with an overzied satchel ala Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and styled my hair in a disheveled, highly textured side-pony to create a look that is both funky …. and fresh.

I just have one question for you… who is Milla?
December 27th, 2007 at 21:40
Milla Michinaga is the person who runs this blog normally, RT. I am blogging for her while she is away on Holiday.

How many L$ is she paying you, because let’s be honest, the personality that you’re bringing to this blog is irreplaceable. It’s refreshing to finally find a blog with some CLASSY attitude. It’s even more refreshing since this is also the only one I’ve ever read. Thank you for being so punctual with your comment responses as well.

I’m new to the blog, so I can’t compare you with Milla, but I’m loving your fashion and writing style
.Which this time brought me memories of my first approach to Sl fashion. It was black a simple black gown, since I saw it, I tried to figure out how to get that flexi skirt! lol
I went through the same intent to create it myself and the following disappointment… so now i’m starting with some basic accessories like scarves, bangles, gloves, etc. I opened a little shop and here I am trying to improve ^_^

Definitely Sofia, I think Milla knew what she was doing when she appointed you as her substitute! This blog is nothing like the other SL fashion blogs… I don’t mean they’re bad, many of them are good in their own way, but this one is just fabulous!!!

Sofia, where might I find those lovely French nails you’re sporting with this (adorable!) outfit?

Stacia, the nails in this outfit are the ones that are directly on the CS – Vogue skins. However, if you go into the Dazzle sim (Last Call) store – to the right of the entrance there is a hexagonal tower that has nails on it (gloves) that you can wear over your skin.
Heyy Milla! *waves*
Hope your holiday is going well!
