Fields of Gold

I am definitely a very situational person when it comes to my choice of dress in Second Life.  One minute I can be dressed in my 80’s gear for a music event and then the next I can be boho-ed out for a stroll through one of my favorite sims.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to explore any of the 4 Avaria sims, perhaps now is a good time.  Today’s outfit is just one that I put together while walking through the fields of desert and grass while taking pictures:

Like I said, my inspiration for this outfit wasn’t necessarily a mood but rather a scenario.  What I actually started out with was the skirt.  Perhaps one of my favorite items from Miko Omegamu, the colors in the skirt are blended so well and the lacey overlay provides a gorgeous texture and contrast.  Although you can’t tell in the images, the skirt also moves wonderfully.  Given the warmer climate of the Avaria sims, I chose to pair the skirt with a simple wife-beater style tank and a good pair of wedged boots – which less-so serve as something practical, but provide that great extra lift every girl needs for those extra few inches.  The obvious choice of accessories for this outfit were all of Lucas Lameth’s boho inspired pieces released earlier this year; the rich wooden tones echoed those seen around the sim at the time I was exploring, and they balance out the weight of the skirt quite nicely.  I’ve finished off this look with a very basic face with little to no makeup, and an effortless braid which hangs loosely over the shoulder.

While I’m well aware that the Boho trend in Second Life is soo last summer, one of the great things that I’ve always found about Second Life is people’s willingness to revisit, and just how easy it is.  I mean, why invest in all of those trend pieces for your avatar if you are only going to use them once, right?

I decided to shoot today’s pictures on site, because I felt that in a situation like this where the outfit was inspired by the location – it really can make the outfit.  And I think this can really apply to anything you wear.  Obviously walking around a winter sim in your favorite mini skirt and heels is mildly unacceptable albeit possible in Second Life – but if I were to present it to you in another scenario, perhaps you would be willing to look at it differently?  In this particular situation, I felt that the landscape really became a part of what made the outfit, and therefor necessary.  I will definitely be returning to my PhotoSphere tomorrow, however. :P

 Thanks for reading, everyone!

Love this blog, love the outfit, love the location :-)

Locations can really make an outfit, setting the scene and putting it in context, I use them a lot in my blog and intend to continue. Sure, it takes a bit more time and organisation than a studio, but heck, the outcome is so worthwhile! And we have a whole second life’s worth of evolving places to use, free!

    Loving your work :-)

LOL Sofia, I was wearing that very same skirt today and I also paired it with a tank top! I’m getting there… ;)

I think Sofia has done a magnificent job. Very sour comment, millalover. Was it really necessary?

I had to intervene and delete a comment — let´s keep it civil and nice ladies (and gentlemen). :)
